[QUOTE=jamily10;1673026]maybe you can get it with this example:
1. I has been worked in this company for ten years (in this case, maybe you are finish working with this company or maybe not, likecucipiring said it's not really end) CMIIW Am extremely busy today but can't help myself to join the discussion here. Sorry Jamily, your example is totally wrong. First please be kindly noticed that 'has/have/had + been + Verb 3' has a passive meaning. So 'I have been worked' means 'saya diperkerjakan' and not 'saya bekerja'. More example: 'I had/have been told' means 'saya udah dibilangin (oleh)..' compare with 'I have been telling ..' meaning 'dari dulu ampe sekarang gue bilang juga apa'.. So your full sentence might have been correct if you make it this way 'I have been worked by Mr. XXX'. 'Saya dipekerjakan oleh Bapak XXX' Now the difference of had been vs has/have been: 'Had been' refers to an activity happened and finished already in the past but when it was told the event was still going on. Easy example: In the year of 2002, Agus worked as a junior copy writer at an advertising agency. Agus was involved in a big project with Unilever as our client from January until November of 2002. When he had been doing his part in the project, the Director asked him to join another project in September'. Notice: was + had been + V-ing Has the activity been finished? Yes. When was the Unilever project? in January until November 2002 When did the Director assign Agus for another project? In September 2002. Conclusion: when Director gave Agus the assignment, Agus had been doing his job in the Unilever project. 'Have been' refers to an activity started in the past and still goes on until now. Easy example: Agus is involved in a big project with Unilever as our client since January 2008. Until now the project has been doing OK and we all hope it will be finished in early May 2008. Hope it helps Yeah rite it would be much easier if we have whiteboard and the non-permanent marker... |

Other, Others, The Other, The Others, Another
Use of 'a' or 'the' both for definite and indefinite actions would be troublesome if I don't know the purpose.
Any of you still confused with the use of other-others-the other-the others-another? raise hands and i'll be pleased to give simple yet clear explanation. But nanti yaa..busy busy nie.. |

Sorry just got the time, not long though but I'll try to explain about what I've promised. Hope this helps.
Another Use 'another' if you want to refer to a single noun out of plenty, and this specified item, when mentioned, is not the last one. Easy example: Budi has 3 apples. One is green, another is red. (Another is 'satu lagi' but NOT the last item, remember that Budi has 3 apples and the last one is not mentioned here) The other Use 'the other' if you want to refer to a single item as the LAST one. Easy example: Budi has 2 apples. One is red, the other is green. (No more apples after) The Others The difference is that 'The others' is used to refer to the last items, but the quantity is more than one. Easy Example: Budi has 3 apples. One is red, the others are green. (Budi has 1 red apple and 2 green apples). Other 'Other' has an opposite meaning to 'another'. If 'another' is used to refer ONE MORE, 'other' is used to refer for plural items. Easy example: Budi has 10 apples. One is red, other apples are green while the other is yellow. So from 10 apples, one is red, 8 are green, 1 is yellow. *emang ada ya apel warna kuning?* Others Same as 'other', the difference is if we use 'other' it will be followed by the items/noun (other + apples). Not necessarily for 'others'. Easy example: Budi has 10 apples. One is red, others are green, the other is yellow. Now let's practice with guidance. Look at your hands, and there are 5 fingers each. We can say it this way: I have 5 fingers. One is my thumb, another is the index finger, another is my middle finger, another is my ring finger and the other is my little finger. OR I have 5 fingers. One is my thumb, others are my index finger and my middle finger and my ring finger, and the other is my little finger. OR I have 5 fingers. One is my thumb. The others are my index finger, my middle finger, my ring finger and my little finger. OR I have 5 fingers. One is my thumb. Other fingers are index and middle and ring, and the other is my little finger. |

Examples: - Without knowing what to do, I cannot complete the tasks. Preposition (without) + V-ing - I am not interested in joining the program. Preposition (in) + V-ing This rule applies for 'TO' if it functions as a preposition. - I look forward to hearing from you. - Whenever it comes to eating I'd be the first to join. |
