Dietmar Hamann Saddened By Robert Enke Death
Hamann devastated by tragic news... By Stephen Darwin Former Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder Dietmar Hamann has spoken of his shock and distress after German goalkeeper Robert Enke was confirmed as dead. According to dpa agency, Hannover 96 chairman Martin Kind announced the death on Tuesday afternoon, and Enke's agent later established that the cause of death was suicide. Fellow countryman Hamann, who is currently a free agent and on the look-out for a new club as he looks to prolongue his playing career, told Sky Sports News that he was utterly shocked by the devastating news. "It's terrible news. I got a message about two hours ago and I couldn't believe it," the 36-year-old said. "What a sad end for a nice man with a very promising career as a goalkeeper." Enke had received eight caps for Germany and was widely expected to be picked by coach Joachim Low as the national team's goalkeeper at the World Cup in South Africa next summer. Hamann went on to suggest that the news would hit the Germany camp hard as they prepare to face Chile in a friendly in Cologne on Saturday. "Obviously they [German national team] will be devastated. He [Enke] was in the running to be the No.1 goalkeeper for the World Cup," he added. "If you lose a team-mate in such a tragic event, obviously they'll be devastated, as the whole of Germany is at the moment. "He was a very good goalkeeper. He played in Turkey, he went to Barcelona, at a young age for a goalkeeper. He had tremendous potential. In the last few years he has really excelled. He made the number one spot his own in recent months, which isn't easy as we have a lot of good goalkeepers in Germany." Enke's daughter, Lara, died just two years ago and Hamann admits that it is tragic cases like this one that demonstrate that there is far more to life than football. "His daughter died after heart disease and they are saying it was suicide, and that he was not in a stable condition. It just puts into perspective how meaningless other things are, because I'm speechless myself. It's devastating news. My thoughts are with family and friends at the moment," he concluded. Tragic Story
Robert Enke Rememberence: A Reminder That Tragedy Happens In Football
Following the tragic death of Robert Enke yesterday, Goal.com's Carlo Garganese shines a light on some figures in the game blighted with similar tragedies... The news of the distressing suicide of Hannover and Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke was yet another example that footballers, for all their wealth and fame, do not live in a bubble of utopia. While it may be wrong to speculate less than 24 hours after Enke’s passing, the early signs undoubtedly are that the 32-year-old’s grief over the death of his two-year-old daughter Lara from a birth defect in 2006 was the main contributing factor in him apparently “throwing himself under a train at Neustadt am Rübenberge". The location of his death was reportedly less than 200 metres from the grave of Lara. Former Barcelona man Enke, who was Bundesliga Goalkeeper of the Year for 2008-09 and was in the running to be Germany No.1 at the World Cup, is not the first high profile footballer to have committed suicide. Indeed, by tragic coincidence, this is a fate endured by a host of ex-Blaugrana players. Swiss footballing pioneer, Joan Gamper, who founded Barcelona in 1899 and would later be president on five occasions, overseeing the club’s first golden age of Ricardo Zamora, Josep Samitier and Paulino Alcanatra, committed suicide in 1930 at the age of 52 after being expelled from Spain for allegedly promoting Catalan nationalism. Legendary Hungarian forward Sandor Kocsis, who was part of the Magical Magyars team with Ferenc Puskas that revolutionised international football in the 1950s and famously thrashed England 6-3 at Wembley, enjoyed an excellent seven-year career in Catalonia. After his playing days ended he struggled with leukaemia and stomach cancer, and fell to his death from the fourth floor of a Barcelona hospital where he was being treated in 1979. While this may have been accidental, it is more likely it was suicide. Kocsis was also 52. More recently, another ex-Barca player to take his own life was Sergi López Segú. Sergio, as he was also known, donned the Blaugrana shirt from 1987-91 and was part of Johan Cruyff’s European Cup Winners’ Cup-winning squad from 1989 when Sampdoria were defeated in the final. After further spells at Mallorca and Zaragoza, Sergio was forced to retire early from a knee injury. He fell into clinical depression after the failure of his marriage and was eventually taken into psychiatric care. The Spaniard threw himself under a train in 2006 at the age of 39. He was the older brother of ex-Valencia and Barcelona midfielder Gerard López Segú. The deaths of some footballers have been shrouded in uncertainty. One example is Austrian legend Matthias Sindelar. In the interwar years Austria were for a while considered as the best team in the world. The 'Wunderteam', as they were known, went on a 14-match unbeaten streak that lasted 20 months in 1931 and 1932. They possessed among their ranks the brilliant Sindelar, 'The Mozart of football', who defied the Nazis following the Anschluss, refusing to play for Germany. He tragically died in 1939 in disputed circumstances from carbon monoxide poisoning along with his girlfriend in his Vienna apartment in 1939. Some believe the 35-year-old’s death was suicide, others say it was an accident, while there are those who claim that the Nazis killed him for snubbing them. Although the coroner called it an "accidental death", some say Arsenal striker Paul Vaessen committed suicide in 2001. At 18, Vaessen scored the winner against Juventus (and Dino Zoff) in the Cup Winners Cup semis in 1980 - a goal that sent the Gunners into the final. His career was pretty much finished within a few years due to a series of injuries and he (re)turned to drugs. He died from an alleged heroin overdose in the bath-tub. He led quite a fascinating life. A professional footballer who sealed an English club's first win at Juve, an alcoholic, a thief, a drug addict, a kind man, a violent man, a wife/girlfriend-abuser, a man who was stabbed six times, in-and-out-of-court more often than a judge, clobbered a policeman, a born-again Christian. Vaessen was 39. There was nothing uncertain about the death of Roma legend Agostino Di Bartolomei, also at the age of 39. Before Francesco Totti and Giuseppe Giannini, the pride of Rome was Agostino Di Bartolomei. In 15 years at the club, ‘Ago’ played 308 games, scored 66 goals, and captained the team 146 times. He led Roma to the 1983 Scudetto, and was man-of-the-match as they lost on penalties to Liverpool in the European Cup final the following year. Di Bartolomei fatally shot himself through the heart on the tenth anniversary of the defeat to Liverpool after apparently running into financial trouble. For a detailed biography on the midfielder The most high-profile footballer to commit suicide in England was undoubtedly Justin Fashanu in 1998 at the age of 37. Fashanu is still more famous today for being the first, and only, top-level professional footballer to come out publicly and declare himself gay. The ex-striker had been an extremely promising young striker in the late 1970s and early 80s with Norwich City, and became Britain's first £1m black footballer in 1981 when he joined Nottingham Forest. His career then started to stall after Forest manager Brian Clough discovered he was homosexual, and he spectacularly failed to fulfil his potential. In 1998 he was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy, and Fashanu hung himself after leaving a suicide note in which he stated that he had already been presumed guilty. Fashanu had been tipped as a future World Cup star before his demise. Others that did actually appear at the FIFA tournament have tragically committed suicide. These include Costa Rica goalkeeper Lester Morgan from Korea/Japan 2002, Bolivian midfielder Ramiro Castillo from USA ’94, Scotland’s Eric Schaedler from West Germany ’74, and most notably Brazilian shot-stopper Carlos José Castilho, who featured in four World Cups between 1950 and 1962, picking up two winners medals. Robert Enke was due to play in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, until yesterday’s tragic turn of events. Germany fans, and many neutrals, will be hoping that Die Mannschaft can bond together now and win the cup for Enke and his family. Carlo Garganese, Goal.com Cerita tragis pemain bola LAIN... Unfortunately, Jerman PASTI gagal juara WC 2010 deh... jadi SEMAKIN TRAGIS aja nasib Enke.... gak ada hadiah pelipur lara sama sekali in the end... |

Farewell
A Farewell To Robert Enke
Goal.com remembers the life of the Hannover goalkeeper, who tragically took his own life on Tuesday evening... Long before football was the huge media circus it is now, goalkeepers were already considered a species of their own. There have been flamboyant shot stoppers such as Rene Higuita, Jose Luis Chilavert and Jorge Campos. Other controversial figures such as Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehman have risen to prominence between the sticks - they did everything to secure a starting berth. Robert Enke was nothing like the aforementioned custodians. The 32-year-old did not give spectacular interviews. He stayed away from clichés and always gave intelligent answers to the questions posed. He did not stand in the spotlight of a big European club - he plied his trade at humble Hannover, who initially fought against relegation but later played for a mid-table position. He never used football, his biggest passion, as a platform to advertise himself. The Hannover goalie let others use that kind of trick. Nevertheless, Enke shone between the sticks and he was well on his way to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. “Go on to play football, the show must go on,” said his wife, Teresa, when their late daughter Lara lay in intensive care. Retrospectively, this sentence was valid for too little time. Shortly after 18:00 on a dark Tuesday evening in November, Enke could no longer go on. The goalkeeper decided to take his own life at a level crossing near the grave of his daughter. One can only suggest his motives, but it makes no sense to speculate - the numerous comments from our users, who were speechless and dismayed, speak for themselves. What remains are memories of a sensitive person, a real sportsman, someone who was always willing to help his colleagues - even when his personal life was difficult. Hannover’s glovesman never really was a media-man. All that mattered to him were his performances on the pitch, and that’s what has made him a role model for the next generation. However, there was more to Enke than just outstanding professional behaviour. He was also very committed to social projects and supported the animal rights group PETA. Robert Enke never let money, fame and victories blind him. He had to endure too many disturbing events in his short life to let things like that affect him. He always remained authentic and sincere, someone you want to be successful. He was one of the positive exceptions walking around in the Bundesliga. Football needs controversial people, but football needs people like Robert Enke even more. Players such as Enke ensure fans, officials and the media talk about more than astronomical transfer fees and exorbitant salaries. They ensure footballers realise they have a function as role-models. Additionally, they ensure that football will always remain the most beautiful sport there is. That is what we must not forget. We can learn from our memories of a superb goalkeeper and a sympathetic human being. -- Goal.com Farewell Enke... Germany MISS U !!! |

Suicide ?
Goalkeeper suicide stuns football
Goalkeeper suicide stuns football Tributes to Robert Enke have been laid at Hannover 96's stadium The world of football is mourning Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke, who died after being hit by a train. Enke, 32, was struck by a train at a level crossing near Hanover. He had left a suicide note and had been battling depression since 2003. Oliver Bierhoff, the German football team's general manager, said: "We are all shocked. We are lost for words." Germany cancelled a planned training session and all interviews after the death of the Hannover 96 player. Enke's daughter Lara died aged two in 2006 of a rare heart condition, and he is thought to have struggled to cope with the loss. His widow Teresa and his psychologist Dr Valentin Markser appeared at Hannover's AWD-Arena this afternoon to explain the background to his death. German journalist Alexander Bleick told BBC Radio 5 live: "Robert spent a long time with his wife in the hospital and [Lara's death] was a very sad moment for him. "A year ago he and his wife adopted a little girl and everyone thought he would be fine again, but as far as we know he had suffered depression for a long time and was taken off training for several weeks in the past month at Hannover. "Doctors worked with him to get his confidence back but it seems they didn't manage to do it." Enke's agent said the player had committed suicide, and police spokesman Stefan Wittke, while declining to reveal where the note was found, said all evidence pointed to suicide. "There is no evidence that would raise doubts about a suicide," Wittke said. Police said the Hanover 96 captain's car, parked metres away from the tracks, was unlocked with his wallet still inside. Fans flocked to his club's Niedersachsen Stadium overnight to lay flowers and light candles at the gates in memory of their captain, who joined them in 2004. Hundreds more queued on Wednesday morning to sign an official book of condolence. Hannover 96 removed all links to their regular website content, replacing them with a black page showing the simple words "Wir trauern um Robert Enke" ("We are mourning Robert Enke"). Germany's friendly against Chile on Saturday may be postponed. When asked about such a possibility, the general secretary of the German national federation, Wolfgang Niersbach, said: "It's hard to say anything at this point in time. We have to collect our thoughts. It's terrible, we are stunned." Enke was not in the squad for the match, having recently recovered from a virus, but many expected him to be the number one goalkeeper for the 2010 World Cup. The German Football League has announced a minute's silence will be held at grounds ahead of the next round of the top two divisions of the Bundesliga for the weekend of 21-22 November, with all players wearing black armbands. Germany's 1974 World Cup winner Franz Beckenbauer told Bild newspaper: "I feel endless loss and sorrow. When you receive news such as this, all other problems seem small." Theo Zwanziger, president of the national federation, said: "Robert was a wonderful man, who had to cope with several blows of fate." Enke started his career at Carl Zeiss Jena and club spokesman Andreas Trautmann said: "The right words don't exist for such a tragedy. We are shocked and our thoughts are with Robert's family. They have our heartfelt sympathies." Jena, now in the German third division, will open a condolence book for Enke, with the intention that it will be passed on to his family. The death caused shockwaves across Europe, at the various clubs where the goalkeeper had plied his trade. Enke's former team-mate at Portuguese club Benfica, Nuno Gomes, told the club's website: "I find it hard to believe that he has died. It is a tremendous loss for world football, the loss of a man of rare qualities in our time. It is very sad news. "I remember how he was just a young kid when he came here but, from day one, he made a great effort to learn our language and did it very quickly. He was a young kid with a huge desire to reach his goals and learn, a man with a capital M." The club's current goalkeeper Moreira added: "I am shocked. All the memories I have are good ones. As a professional, he was one of the best to pass through Benfica and he learned to speak Portuguese in three months. "If it was not for [Tuesday's] tragic accident, I'm sure he would have played in the World Cup." The two Spanish clubs Enke played for, CD Tenerife and Barcelona, paid their condolences to his family. Kevin Kuranyi, a striker for Schalke 04, told Bild: "It really can't and should not be true. Robert was such a great person. I don't know how I should tell my wife, she is good friends with Robert's wife. I feel for his family." The German national federation posted a range of further tributes to the player: • Christian Wulff (Prime Minister of Lower Saxony): "Germany loses an exceptional athlete and a very compassionate man. He was a role model." • Michael Vesper (General Director of the National Olympic Committee): "I am shaken to the core. Our thoughts are with his family. This is a tragedy." • Martin Kind (President of Hannover 96): "An absolute catastrophe, which I still cannot grasp." • Ewald Lienen (former coach of Robert Enke with Hannover 96): "This loss is beyond words. I feel endless regret and sorrow that he was in such as situation that led to this final act." BBC SPORT.football Benar benar tak terduga... |

mengejutkan, mengagetkan emosi para pemain, pelatih n fans ... Biar 'keluarga' terhibur (istri, anak, fans, dll) Lainnya kita bicarakan blakangan, setelah 7 hari ('mitoni') ato 40 hari atao 100 hari (nyatus) ... R.I.P Engke !!! |
